Niki, the Principal Chiropractor at Trigg Chiropractic & Integrated Health, answers some frequently asked questions:

What sets you apart from other practitioners?

My philosophy is of a biomechanical nature – that is I believe that structure and function (or dysfunction) can lead to postural and pain syndromes. I therefore base my treatments around returning function (and thus reducing pain and inflammation), in the most gentle way possible. Chiropractic care shouldn’t be painful, uncomfortable or stressful in any way. A variety of adjusting techniques available so we can tailor your treatments to your comfort and needs at your initial consultation

Does your treatment style hurt?

No one likes unnecessary pain or discomfort and I like to make sure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. Spinal adjustments generally are not painful if done in a proper manner. If at any point during your treatment you feel uncomfortable, please let me know so i can alter my treatment method for your comfort.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your initial consultation is usually 30 - 45 minutes in duration. We start with a detailed medical/health history, followed by a comprehensive physical exam. Once your treatment options have been discussed and your case is considered suitable for chiropractic care, treatment usually involves initial massage or soft tissue release, spinal adjustment followed by gentle stretching

I do not require x-rays (unless clinically warranted) and I do not charge to read any old x-rays you have. After your initial consult/treatment, I usually ask you to return in a couple of days for reassessment.

How many treatments are necessary?

How long is a piece of string! I do not believe in lengthy and expensive packages however I do want you to get better. I will only suggest treatment frequency based on individual clinical need. Each case will vary and some will respond quicker than others. For more chronic conditions, i do suggest a maintenance check up every 6 – 8 weeks in order to prevent any crisis situations such as acute on chronic low back pain or acute torticollis.
