Dr Melissa Vernon is an evidence-based Chiropractor who has a passion for helping others and always has a smile on her face.
With a background of over 12 years experience as a Registered Nurse, specialising in Critical Care, she has a wealth of knowledge not only in the treatment of nervous system and musculoskeletal injuries, but also in how the body functions and heals as a whole.
Initially Melissa completed a post graduate qualification in cancer nursing and then specialised in the field of critical care working in Intensive Care before deciding to become a Chiropractor. Melissa writes, “Working in such a fast paced environment can lead to injuries which I experienced myself and saw occur in many of my work colleagues. I found that Chiropractic care had an amazing effect on my body and lead me to become interested in musculoskeletal injuries and how I as a healthcare professional could help others.”
Throughout her life Melissa has been inspired by a quote by Thomas Edison: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Melissa tailors her treatment options to meet the needs of each patient. These include manual adjusting, drop piece, biomechanical blocking, Activator technique, dry needling, kinesiotaping, and a variety of soft tissue techniques including Graston/IASTM.
Melissa is trained to treat a variety of conditions such as back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, vertigo, pregnancy care, postural complaints, and joint problems such as the ankle, hip and shoulder.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time camping and fishing with her husband and their two cheeky English Staffordshire Terriers, Charlie and Bella.
